HE LEFT AGT WITHOUT A PLACE IN THE FINAL. THREE YEARS LATER, HERWAN LEGAILLARD RETURNED WITH AN EVEN MORE DANGEROUS PERFORMANCE. Herwan Legaillard does not simply perform dangerous stunts. He transforms danger into a carefully choreographed piece of circus art.
The French performer trained at a circus school until the age of 18 and then spent approximately ten years working professionally as an acrobat. He specialized in aerial disciplines before teaching himself one of the most dangerous traditional circus skills: sword swallowing.
In 2023, Herwan brought his unusual combination of disciplines to America’s Got Talent. He swallowed straight and curved blades, performed while suspended on aerial silks and even used an illuminated sword that could be seen glowing through his throat. The judges were shocked, but they also recognized the control and showmanship behind the danger.
Herwan received four yeses and advanced to the Live Shows. He was eventually eliminated during the qualifiers, although Heidi Klum later selected him as her candidate for a special wildcard vote. He did not receive enough public votes to reach the final. But that was not the end of his journey.
In 2025, Herwan competed on La France a un incroyable talent. During the quarterfinals, he combined sword swallowing, balance and aerial acrobatics in an even more ambitious performance. Guest judge Lola Dubini pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending him directly to the semifinal.
Herwan continued all the way to the French Grand Final and finished as the runner-up behind aerial duo EmYo. Then, in 2026, he returned to AGT. This time, Herwan raised the difficulty again. His audition combined aerial silks with sword swallowing, including a moment in which he submerged himself in water while swallowing a blade.
Sofia Vergara and Mel B could barely watch parts of the routine, but when it ended, all four judges were standing. Herwan received four yeses and was later confirmed for the Season 21 Live Shows without needing to perform in the new Callback Round.
His story is not simply about performing increasingly dangerous tricks. It is about returning to the same stage with greater control, stronger presentation and something genuinely new to show. Herwan Legaillard did not allow his first elimination to define him.
He kept developing his art until AGT invited him back.
Would you be brave enough to watch his performance without covering your eyes?
Herwan’s act is performed by a highly trained professional and should never be attempted.
